WILLIAM FITZSIMMONS
Rosi Golan
Wednesday April 22nd, 2009
Doors @ 6pm - $12 adv
William Fitzsimmons is one of the oddest people you will ever meet. Born the youngest child of two blind parents, William was raised in the outskirts of the steel city of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Due to the family's inability to communicate through normal visual means, William's childhood home was filled with a myriad of sounds to replace what eyes could not see. The house was suffused with pianos, guitars, trombones, talking birds, classical records, family sing-a-longs, bedtime stories, and the bellowing of a pipe organ, which his father built into the house with his own hands. When his father's orchestral records were not resonating through the walls, his mother would educate him on the folk stylings of James Taylor, Joni Mitchell, Bob Dylan, and Simon & Garfunkel.

NATHAN ANGELO, PJ MORTON, JIMI CRAVITIY and STEVE MEANS

FRIDAY, MARCH 6 – NATHAN ANGELO, PJ MORTON, JIMI CRAVITIY and STEVE MEANS

The Atlanta-based soul-singing pianist NATHAN ANGELO has been making his hometown proud for years. Currently on tour across the US, Nathan returns to Smith's Olde Bar for a night of jams that will keep the crowd singing, swaying and falling in love.

Songwriter, producer and musical prodigy are all acceptable titles on PJ MORTON'S business card. The Grammy-award winner has worked with an array of musicians including India Arie, Jermaine Dupree and Musiq Soulchild. Influenced at a young age by The Beatles and James Taylor, PJ describes his own music as somewhere between Stevie Wonder and Sting – and we like the sound of that!

Fresh Atlanta local singer-songwriter JIMI CRAVITY kicks his set off with a sweet batch of musical storytelling tunes.

Nashville's STEVE MEANS starts the night with a heavy dose of smooth-like-butter songs. This is the perfect night for impressing that special someone that might still be bitter about the not-so-special V-Day gift!

WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 21 // PJ MORTON, JIMI CRAVITY

Songwriter, producer and musical prodigy are all acceptable titles on PJ MORTON’S business card. The Grammy-award winner has worked with an array of musicians including India Arie, Jermaine Dupree and Musiq Soulchild – just to name a few. Influenced at a young age by The Beatles and James Taylor, PJ MORTON describes his own genre as somewhere between Stevie Wonder and Sting – and we like the sound of that! Atlanta local sing-songwriter JIMI CRAVITY kicks it off with his musical storytelling tunes.

SUNDAY, JANUARY 25 // THE WOES and LITTLE TYBEE

Smith’s Olde Bar hosts a night of gypsy folk with NYC’s THE WOES. Combining New Orleans big band horns with banjos and punk, the Woes sound like Gogol Bordello fronted by Tom Waits high on bluegrass. LITTLE TYBEE, formerly The Brock Scott Quartet and winners of the 2007 Open Mic Madness, start the night out with fresh tunes ready to impress audiences and win over hearts across the board!
